Lightning

iOS, iPadOS, tvOS · Audio engine, hardware

Lightning turns a room into a thunderstorm. It plays storm soundscapes and syncs the light to the thunder — the screen falls to black, then pulses with every rumble, and on the loudest strikes it fires the camera flash like real lightning.

The storm

  • Storm soundscapes with the light driven from the thunder, strike by strike
  • Set the storm's distance and the thunder trails the flash, the way it does outside
  • The camera flash fires on the loudest strikes — best in a dark room, sound through speakers or headphones
  • Immersion modes: screen only, a soft ambient glow, or warm-to-cool lightning colour

Made to fall asleep to

  • A sleep timer that fades the audio and the light down to black rather than cutting out, so it never jolts you awake
  • Gapless playlists with seamless crossfade between storms
  • A StandBy and Lock Screen storm clock

On the big screen

  • Apple TV runs the same storm in the living room — the screen falls dark, then patches of it flash and glow like lightning moving through a cloud, and the whole sky lights up on the loudest strikes
  • No camera flash, haptics, or StandBy clock there: an Apple TV has no torch and no Taptic Engine, so the light is carried entirely on screen

Free, with Lightning Pro

  • Free: the Starter Storm with the full flash and thunder experience, storm distance, and the fading sleep timer
  • Pro is a one-time purchase: all six storms, immersion modes, haptic thunder, strike intensity and an approaching-storm mode, longer overnight timers, and saved presets
  • One purchase covers every platform — buy Pro once and it unlocks on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV
  • Bought the old Storm Expansion? Tap Restore — you are upgraded to Pro at no charge

Your data stays yours

  • No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics
  • Settings and presets stay on your device; the app has no servers to send them to
  • The camera permission exists only to switch the flash on and off — nothing is captured
